LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort Invites Families to Reconnect with the Voluntourism Getaway

NAPLES, Fla. – February 9, 2010 – LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resorts invites families to reconnect while supporting a good cause with the Voluntourism Getaway package, donating 15% of the proceeds to the Conservancy of Southwest Florida.  Guests go green on a family philanthropic vacation to discover and conserve the unique ecosystems and endangered wildlife in Naples at LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort, the three-year Turtle Awareness Partner of the Conservancy of Southwest Florida.

LaPlaya rewards eco-friendly parents arriving in a hybrid car with free valet parking. In every guest room, families are greeted by a stuffed sea turtle and turtle educational coloring book to learn more about one of Florida’s most adored reptiles, Loggerhead Turtles. Hungry humanitarians are able to enjoy Bell & Evan’s organic chicken with wild mushrooms, midnight tomatoes, and goat cheese dumplings for dinner at Baleen, which provides panoramic views of Vanderbuilt Beach.

Families explore the native ecosystems of Florida’s waters via kayak tours and view juvenile Loggerhead Turtles at the Conservancy of Southwest Florida Nature Center. Enjoying nature’s beauty first-hand, guests can explore the Caribbean and Children’s Garden at the Naples Botanical Garden that combines enchanting tropical gardens and naturally restored habitats. Nature lovers head out to Rookery Bay to get close to the exotic endangered animals they strive to protect.

LaPlaya and the Conservancy have joined their efforts together to save the native sea turtles by patrolling beaches, marking nests, counting hatched eggs and educating the community about important conservation measures that will give sea turtle hatchlings the support they need to survive.
