Diversion From Landfill

No more tiny bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Instead, our guests may treat themselves or someone special to the luxurious scent and body-drenching nourishment of our Lather bath & body essentials in large shower pump bottles. In addition to our self-imposed plastic straw ban, we also recycle our kitchen grease into bio fuel and compost, further helping us divert as much of the resort’s waste stream from landfill.

Breathing Through The Outdoors

According to the EPA, indoor air is three times more polluted than outdoor air. We raise indoor air quality by circulating large amounts of outdoor air into guest rooms (all our accommodations have sliding glass doors!). The resort also uses low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) flooring, sealants, paints and adhesives.
Further, the resort has six artificial mini-reefs installed at our marina which provides nursery habitat to help hundreds of native fish, crabs and shrimp grow up while filtering tens of thousands of gallons every day. Each unit installed filters 30,000 gallons per year allowing for growth of up to approximately 500 fish, shrimp and crabs per year. Our partnership with Ocean Habitats, Inc. allows us to visually monitor growth and development over time.

Conservancy of SW Florida

For more than 50 years, the Conservancy of Southwest Florida has been a leading environmental advocacy organization dedicated to protecting the water, land, wildlife and future of our local community. LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort partners with the conservancy in observing the nesting season for loggerhead sea turtles on the beaches of Southwest Florida with its annual Sea Turtle Conservancy package. In addition to luxurious accommodations and dining at the resort’s BALEENnaples restaurant, the two-night Sea Turtle Conservancy package provides guests the opportunity to adopt a sea turtle, as well as visit the Conservancy of Southwest Florida, where they can learn about the importance of the center’s resources and understand the role it plays in protecting the region. The eco-friendly package, its educational aspects making it perfectly suited for families, is available during the nesting season, which takes place annually between May and October.
